010 SLV LIGHTING KNOWLEDGE LUMEN CRI COLOUR TEMPERATURE The luminous flux (indicated in Lumen) describes how much light is emitted in all directions by a light source. It represents the overall brightness perceived by the human eye. The efficiency of a luminaire is often given in Lumen per Watt. The higher the luminous flux (in Lumen) per power consumed (in Watt), the more efficient the light source. The colour rendering index is the impact of a light source on the colour of an object as perceived by the human eye compared to a natural source of light (e.g. sunlight). According to EN 12464-1, indoor spaces in which people spend or work for longer amounts of time should have a colour rendering index (CRI) of >80. The colour temperature of a light source is indicated in Kelvin (K). The higher the colour temperature, the cooler and more stimulating the light (e.g. daylight = 5500K). The lower the Kelvin figure, the warmer and cosier the light. The colour temperature of a 2700K light bulb is now recommended as the perfect home lighting. The CCT switch allows the colour temperature of a luminaire to be adjusted. DIM-TO-WARM (DTW) TUNEABLE WHITE (TW) RGB RGB+W The dim-to-warm feature lets you adjust the colour temperature and brightness of the light. When dimmed, the light changes from a bright, cool-white colour to a warm colour. The Tuneable White function allows you to set the colour temperature of LED lights as desired. The light can be adjusted to suit different times of day and moods. An RGB-compatible luminaire covers the entire colour spectrum from red, green and blue with the white balance in the background.
